About Lauren 

Originally from Denver, Colorado, I have always been attracted to visual mediums and how they communicate to viewers. Throughout my early education I felt an attraction to communication beginning with creative writing, poetry, and progressing to academic and in-depth research. 

I  felt a pull to a larger city, which was a reason I chose Chicago. After receiving merit based scholarships I decided to attend Loyola University of Chicago for my undergraduate education. With the communication school in the heart of downtown Chicago I knew this was the place to develop my storytelling abilities.  This choice developed my work with exploration in digital formats, and how stories are now told in this new age of communication. 

I worked for many years as Field Producer and Desk Assistant at WLS ABC 7 Eyewitness News in the local Chicago area. In addition I filled in as an Assignment Editor, taking on a larger leadership and editorial role in the newsroom. Then I was able to freelance for network ABC producing for World News Tonight, Good Morning America, 20/20 and ABC News Live. Gaining valuable experience producing for a national audience.

I transitioned to NBC 5 Chicago WMAQ in early 2022 with a full time staff position. I started as weekend Assignment Editor and quickly moved to Weekday Assignment editor. Now I am contributing daily story background and ideas to keep people in the third largest market informed in prime time television.
